IBN24 Desk: Raipur (chhattisgarh) At the Cabinet Meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan), following significant decisions were taken:
1. Cabinet has approved the proposal to constitute a Ministerial Sub-Committee to ensure the timely and seamless availability of fertilisers to farmers during the Kharif and Rabi cropping seasons. The committee will also provide recommendation, guidance and inputs on matters relating to fertiliser supply, distribution and overall management.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolios of Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Urban Administration and Development, and Sports and Youth Welfare, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the sub-committee. The Cabinet Minister for Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare, the Cabinet Minister for Cooperatives, and the Cabinet Minister for Finance will serve as its members.
The Agriculture Production Commissioner will function as the Convener of the sub-committee. The panel will have the authority to invite officials of concerned departments, subject experts and representatives of other institutions, whenever required, and will advise the State Government on issues related to the availability and supply of fertilisers.
2. In another landmark decision aimed at ensuring the rehabilitation and dignified employment of Agniveer soldiers, the Cabinet has approved the proposal to frame the Reservation of Vacancies in Class III Posts of State Civil Services for Agniveer Soldiers of Chhattisgarh Rules, 2026.
Under the new rules, 10 per cent reservation will be provided to eligible Agniveer soldiers in direct recruitment to Class III posts, including Police Constable in the Police Department, Forest Guard in the Forest and Climate Change Department, and Jail Warder in the Prison Department.
The decision has been taken in compliance with the announcement made by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai in the State Legislative Assembly on July 26, 2024. The reservation will be available to Agniveer soldiers who have successfully completed four years of service in the Indian Armed Forces and have been discharged with a valid service certificate.
The Cabinet noted that the decision will not only create enhanced employment opportunities for Agniveers in State services but will also enable the Police, Forest and Prison Departments to benefit from their discipline, training and valuable experience.
